Marvel is in mourning, on November 12 this year has died Stanley Martin Lieber, better known by his pseudonym Stan Lee, the scriptwriter and editor of American comics that undoubtedly catapulted Marvel to achieve the prestige and fame he currently possesses. He was a writer and editor of comics, as well as a producer and well known for his constant cameos. In life he had created characters of enormous worldwide popularity such as Spider-Man, Hulk, Doctor Strange, Iron Man, The Fantastic Four, The Avengers, Daredevil, Thor, the X-Men, Scarlet Witch, among many other superheroes, almost always accompanied of cartoonists Steve Ditko and Jack Kirby.

He was born in Manhattan, New York. On December 28, 1922, a Jew, Romanian immigrant, a great fan of film and writing, his work was very fundamental to expand Marvel Comics (his original name was Timely Comics), taking it from a small advertising house to a large corporation multimedia. At age 20, he debuted as a screenwriter with a two-page story starring Captain America.

In 1960 Stan Lee was about to leave Marvel Comics, but his wife Joan Clayton Boocock Lee convinced him to create the comic he wanted to do. (Many people are grateful for that, including myself) So in 1961 came the success with the creation of the Fantastic 4, in a few years, together with Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko created the vast majority of the characters classic of the publishing house that almost all of us know today.

Something that we will certainly constantly remember is that since the Marvel Cinematic Universe was released in 2008, Stan Lee has made special appearances in the form of cameos, in most of his films. Although, sometimes, due to his state of health and his advanced age, he was prevented from traveling to the sets of filming. In July 2017, at 93 years old, his wife, Joan, had died. Stan Lee had died at the Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles at the age of 95.

We will always remember you, Excelsior!
